Art Nouveau-arama!

I am in love with the Art Nouveau aesthetic, if not the prices.  Here are some gorgeous finds that are either of the period or inspired by it.

One of a kind you say?

One of my biggest pet peeves with online sellers is the overuse of "unique" and "one of a kind."  Now if it's something that you made with your own two hands, then for good or for ill, it's likely one of a kind.  If it is something mass produced, I don't care how old it is, there's another one somewhere.
This genius has been trying to sell this phone since at least last fall:
One of a kind, is it?  Well let's see what a quick search of ebay using "pink rotary phone" yields...
And here's one from the selection on etsy:

Oh and Ruby Lane...
So yeah, I think I've proven my point craigslist seller.  What's my point, you may ask?  You're an idiot, that's my point.

Oh god it's that thing they put in Chekov's ear!

Seriously, when I was a kid that part of Wrath of Khan where they put those beetle-worm things into the ears of Chekov & the captain of the USS Reliant it FREAKED. ME. OUT.  Now I can apparently wear the same creepy little abomination on my finger.

Pet peeve & cool tables

If you follow the link you will see that they have listed this as "50's Deco End Tables," Now here's my beef, Art Deco lasted from the 20's and waned in the early 40's.  Some might say it ended before that to be replaced with "Futurism" and what is now referred to as Mid-Century Modern.  It sticks in my craw when in the age of the internet, where research materials are readily available 24/7, that people constantly mislabel their items for sale.  This is NOT Art Deco, those Gothic Revival pendant lights are NOT Art Deco, that Nagel print from the 80's is NOT Art Deco!  Do a little legwork people!  Don't get me started on people calling all vintage plastic, "Bakelite."

Behold, the Asian Thomas Kincaid!

Delightful, D'lovely

This little early 20th century charmer would be lovely in your boudoir!

Paper maché Bandito!

In one of the shots, this mask looks like Danny Trejo.

A bird in a frame is worth 2 in the...Wait, how does that go?

With a little elbow grease and new frames I think these 2 could be pretty chic.  Or if not chic, then kitschy-cool.

Ain't nothin' in the world like a big-eyed girl...

Don't ask me why, but I sure do like this weird, mod little piece of wall art.

Oooooo, witchy woman...

While I don't think that was the intent of the carver this does look an awful lot like those old plastic Halloween masks...
